Dr.Gold's research and teaching interests include the speaking of President Ronald Reagan, political communication, television criticism, politics and mass media, rhetorical theory and language, American public address, and higher education research and theory. She was President of the Central States Speech Association in 1997, selected as a Mortar Board Outstanding Educator by Mortar Board, and named Outstanding Woman Instructor on campus by the Commission on Women in 1996. Her current research includes a study of the political comedy/jokes on late night comedy shows such as Leno and Letterman.
