Cameron W. Piercy (PhD, University of Oklahoma) is an Associate Professor of Relationships and Digital Media and the founding director of the Human-Machine Communication Lab. He researches how socio-technical interactions change work. He is co-editor (with Alaina Zanin at Arizona State) of a forthcoming book titled Teaming with Machines: How Contemporary Teams Collaborate with Complex Work Technologies (Wiley).
His research is published in communication, technology, organization science, and psychology journals including: Communication Research, New Media & Society, Computers in Human Behavior, International Journal of Business Communication, and Mobile Media & Communication. He is also an author of two open textbooks, Problem Solving in Teams and Groups (https://opentext.ku.edu/teams) and Connecting and Relating (https://opentext.ku.edu/interpersonal), and was awarded the 2023 Schulenburger Award for innovation and advocacy in scholarly communication.
Dr. Piercy teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in focused on teams and groups, human-machine communication, computer-mediated communication, and organizational communication. He is an active member of the Native Faculty and Staff Council and serves as a co-director of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Mentored Scholars Program.
