Rhetoric & Political Communication
Dr. Childers's research and teaching focuses on the intersection of rhetoric, politics, and violence. He is the author of The Evolving Citizen: American Youth and the Changing Norms of Democratic Engagement (Pennsylvania State University Press, 2012), and the co-author (with Roderick P. Hart and Colene J. Lind) of Political Tone: How Leaders Talk and Why (University of Chicago Press, 2013). He has also authored a number of essays, including pieces that have appeared in Presidential Studies Quarterly, Quarterly Journal of Speech, Rhetoric & Public Affairs, and Western Journal of Communication.
